uhaul trailerOur Seattle home is all packed up.  We will spend one more night here in our empty apartment, then off we’ll drive into the sunrise and into our new life.

We’re taking what seems to us to be a lot of stuff.  We’ll be moving one small Uhaul trailer, one Toyota truck and one Honda Civic’s worth of boxes and furniture.  All this. And as we packed, I swear we gave away at least as much as we kept.  K’s dad, who is out here to help us move, worries that someone could drive off with our trailer full of stuff while it’s left parked out on the street, and we find ourselves thinking, Would we mind?  What would we really miss?  How much would we care to replace?

  • As a military spouse I find myself thinking much the same way about physical belongings…”Would I mind? What would I really miss? How much would I care to replace?”…since we move so often. Every couple of years I pack up again and move. In some ways it is a good thing because it keeps your life simple and what you do choose to keep you treasure even more.
