We’ve finally started puting our yard to work.
In the spring, we envision it with vegetable gardens in which tasty things are beginning to grow, chickens foraging around the yard getting ready to lay us eggs, honeybees pollinating our fruit trees while they gather nectar to make us honey, etc. Think garden of eatin’.
In the meantime, while it is still cold, there is one important job our yard is already doing for us. Drying our clothes. With our brand new front-load washer (!!!), our clothes spin until they’re almost dry already, then an afternoon on the line finishes them off. No Dryer necessary.
We’ve heard clothes can dry if there is wind and sun even in below-freezing temperatures. We haven’t tried this out yet (we’ve been lucky to have a few days above freezing scattered through the last few weeks). I’m sure we will, given time. I’m committed to this clothesline. Putting it up was like staking a claim to this space of ours, more so than anything we’ve done so far.

We primarily line dry our clothes (although it has been so wet this winter and with indoor projects, our garage line is down, so we have been glad for the dryer). What you said is true. You roasting sun is good, but dry wind is better.
