We are redoing our bathroom this month, but I wanted to share a little of what we’ve done in the kitchen already:
We’ve taken down the plywood cabinets and on a different kitchen wall have put up old white metal ones from the porch (but only 2 of the 3 we’re planning on using). We’ve taken out the wood paneling, added material to even out the wall, and painted it with chalkboard paint (but haven’t cut through to restore the window that used to be on this wall; you can see the bottom of it making a cubby in the chalkboard). We’ve taken out the carpet (but haven’t refinished the wood floors).
What I’ve learned doing house projects so far, is that it is easy to make progress but hard to finish.

It’s so exciting to watch you both work on your house and build your life out there. I’m bummed you didn’t end up in Maine, but where you are looks wonderful. Please keep posting!

I really like the chalkboard wall. It’s much better than the wood paneling.

Love the chalkboard. Have you used the magnetic paint yet? That is fun too!

We have a zillion unfinished house projects. Too many to list. What I learned after the lesson you just listed is that I prefer to have some of them half finished more than not begun at all. Look how much better your kitchen looks already. And carpet in the kitchen? Gross.
