Jennings Brae Bank Farm2 April, 2011

Jenning Brae Bank FarmWe’re in Seattle for the week, attending a friend’s wedding and revisiting old haunts. We love this city. There is still no place in this country we’d rather live, if we wanted to live in a town. But visiting again has reminded me of the reasons why we left, and what brought us out to rural Iowa in the first place.  I was exhausted in my job, and we were tired of spending so little time together. At the end of another frantic day, I would close my eyes and envision where I’d rather be, and it looked a lot like the Jennings Brae Bank Farm.

The Jennings Brae Bank Farm is the home of our good friends Mollie and John. They currently have Scottish Highland cows and chickens as well as a beautiful vegetable garden and berries in the hills of West Virginia. And sitting in the shade of their backporch on a summer afternoon is a little bit of paradise.

Our hope is that someday our place will feel as rich and welcoming as theirs. Check out the goings on there at http://www.jenningsbraebankfarm.blogspot.com/.
