Do you remember how we used to post pictures of our garden at the beginning of each month? If you were wondering what happened to that, it is called shame. I am happier keeping our pitiful, pitiful garden to ourselves this year. BUT! K is still making desktop calendars every month, so here’s one for August.

These are California poppies. We discovered them in Seattle, where they grow everywhere, and I’m a big fan. They’re often sold in wildflower seed mixes, but we learned from the Seattle experience that they have invasive tendencies, so we’ve decided not to take part in letting them loose here in Iowa.
