We’ve been finding it difficult to write blog posts lately. You see, this blog has always been excerpts from our life that fit into a certain picture of what our life is like. In particular, the life where we live on a beautiful three acres in the country that produces exciting things both wild and cultivated for us to swoon over, where we live in a beautiful old farm house where we take on exciting projects to make it feel more like the perfect home, where we make art and play with paper in our inspiring studio, where we’re constantly cooking and eating delicious wholesome food we’d like to share with the world.
It’s not that our real life doesn’t still have plenty of elements of those things. Some of them we’ve begun to take for granted and not notice the way we used to, or we worry about repeating ourselves now that we’ve been blogging for a while. Some of them are just not up to snuff this year, like our essentially non-existant garden and the rest of our acres still stuck in severe drought. And truthfully, we’re just not as excited about this life as we used to be.
We’re really not sure where to go from here in terms of blog posts. We feel like both we and you have some expectations for what should be here, and we’re not sure we want to break that mold or that you’d want us to (we might be speaking to the ‘you’ here that doesn’t include our immediate families, who would probably keep reading this if all we did was post pictures of our toes).
It matters to us that whatever we post is honest and really does reflect who we are and what we are up to. And we’re not ready to stop blogging. So we’ll take this opportunity to recommit ourselves to posting regularly, even if we’re not sure what exactly it will look like (we promise, more than pictures of our toes). We hope you bear with us as we figure this out.
